Congratulations to Energy Central's TOP CONTRIBUTORS of October 2025

At Energy Central, we know the Community only exists and thrives because of our dedicated suite of contributors, commentators, and other members of the community. As such, we make it a regular practice to celebrate those who are doing the most to keep the conversations buzzing!

So with that in mind, it's time once again to announce our Monthly Top Contributors!

Each month, we recognize three standout community members who helped spark conversation, contributed actively, or jumped in as new members with a bang. These top contributors will be in three categories: Grid Builder of the Month, Power User of the Month, and Rising Star of the Month.

Here are your October 2025 Top Contributors:

Grid Builder of the Month: John Benson

For starting the conversation that generated the most engagement across the Energy Central platform.

Post: Super-Electric Utility-Employees (11 total comments)

Notable Comments:

  • Joe Deely: Batteries on the CAISO grid are now regularly the largest source of electricity for multiple hours.

This will start happening in ERCOT in 2-3 years.

  • Michael Keller: Answer to question: Depends on the return on invested capital. That appears to be quite dependent on subsidies, which includes renewable mandates. Where the storage is located is also a consideration.

The batteries cannot supply base load power generation, being more of a short term augmentation for grid peaking.

Power User of the Month: Thiago Ferreira

For driving community discussion with the most thoughtful and active commenting this month.

Total Comments: 11

Notable Comments:

  • On Expanding the Role of Low-Power Instrument Transformers in Grid Applications: "After nearly two decades working with power transformers, I can say that LPITs are an essential component for grid modernization."

  • On Power Transformers: "I wouldn't just say the increase in demand, but the end of the cycle of some of the first transformers, whose useful life is 30 to 40 years, is approaching. So they need to be repaired or replaced."

  • On Expanding Electricity: "Extremely relevant topic. However, when we look at the main bottlenecks in power system expansion, industrial capacity and the availability of skilled workforce still stand out as the biggest challenges to sustaining the pace of the energy transition."

Rising Star of the Month: Rajeev Rautela

For jumping into the Energy Central community as a new member and making an immediate impact through valuable contributions.

Member since: September 25, 2025

Highlights: Rajeev joined just a few weeks ago but made a splash with some highly engaging posts and showing an eagerness to discuss back and forth with the community in the comments.
