Lawmakers want Michigan 100% off fossil fuels sooner than all but 1 other state

Huge giggle here..

The #MPSC is not really willing to approve any approach to getting distribution ready to support electric vehicles.

Solar capacity factor in the state is poor, and everyone wants to build solar.

Winter energy consumption means over building solar by a factor of 6 to 8 to get though December/January.

No one in Government is willing to consider building more Ludington's, the lowest cost option for storage in the state.

Closing the fossil plants will reduce the capacity of transmission with out building synchronous condensers or similar.

Right now at the rate of installation of solar in the state, data center growth will consume all the power produced.

There really needs to be a sit down discussion between parties that understand both what Michigan provide, and people who understand what the future looks like with the engineers from the industry to actually create a plan for Michigan. We shut down too much fossil generation in the state before there is firm power to replace it, and we are likely to freeze a large portion of the state. Not enough generation will also mean that the ratepayers (you and I) for stabilization forced by MISO, our $0.15 power will quickly become $0.40 power - fantastic for low income budgets.

People in office in Lansing who vote for this may find themselves out of a job in the next election.
