Google and CTC Global Partner to Accelerate U.S. Grid Expansion with Advanced Conductors

In a bold step to modernize America’s electric grid and meet the surging demand for reliable, efficient transmission infrastructure, Google and CTC Global have announced a transformative partnership to rapidly scale the deployment of advanced transmission conductors across the United States.

The initiative aims to unlock urgently needed grid capacity, boost reliability, and support regional economic development - all while accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Unlocking Grid Capacity in Months, Not Years

The linchpin of this initiative is CTC Global’s ACCC® Conductor, a high-performance, U.S.-manufactured solution that enables utilities to double the capacity of existing transmission lines without the need to raise or replace structures. With utilities under mounting pressure to support electrification, clean energy integration, and data center growth, the ability to expand grid capacity in months instead of years offers a powerful advantage.

While traditional transmission buildouts often face decade-long approval and construction timelines, reconductoring with ACCC® Conductor allows utilities to tap into unused potential in their existing corridors - adding capacity, improving efficiency, and reducing line losses by up to 40%.

A New Model for Transmission Collaboration

At the heart of the collaboration is a Request for Information (RFI), issued jointly by Google and CTC Global, inviting states, utilities, and transmission developers to propose high-impact projects that could benefit from accelerated reconductoring with advanced conductors. The initiative will prioritize projects that offer:

  • Immediate load relief and grid congestion mitigation

  • Strategic alignment with areas of high data center or industrial growth

  • Opportunity for cost-sharing, workforce training, and technical validation

Selected partners will gain access to a unique combination of support, including:

  • Cost assistance to accelerate deployment

  • Workforce development to support future-ready training in ACCC® deployment

  • Technical analysis to validate performance and optimize project outcomes

The RFI is open through July 14, 2025, and will be followed by a full Request for Proposals (RFP).

Supporting U.S. Manufacturing and Economic Growth

CTC Global proudly manufactures the ACCC® Conductor in Irvine, California, leveraging a U.S.-based supply chain that includes carbon fiber from Alabama and fiberglass from Texas. With over 124,000 miles of conductor installed worldwide - including in over 30 U.S. states - CTC’s technology is not just proven; it’s powering a new generation of infrastructure that’s efficient, scalable, and made in America.

This initiative not only promises to expand the nation’s grid capacity, but also strengthens America’s energy independence and manufacturing leadership in a sector increasingly central to national competitiveness.

Driving the Future of Energy and Innovation

As demand for electricity rises in parallel with the growth of AI, electrified transportation, and renewable energy deployment, grid constraints are becoming one of the greatest bottlenecks to progress. With this partnership, Google and CTC Global are offering a model for how private sector innovation can align with public infrastructure goals to deliver faster, smarter solutions.

According to Amanda Peterson Corio, Google’s Global Head of Data Center Energy, “Expanding transmission capacity presents a significant opportunity for the power system today… This partnership aims to dramatically cut the time and cost of adding and moving electricity to reliably power American homes and businesses.”

CTC Global CEO J.D. Sitton added, “This groundbreaking partnership with Google marks a positive turning point to lower electricity costs, generate economic growth, and advance U.S. energy dominance… Our solution uniquely delivers significant electric grid capacity with unparalleled speed.”
