Islay | Site Investigations Start for 2 GW Offshore Wind Project in Scotland

Was PM of the original Islay Offshore Wind Farm. Interesting to see how this iteration fares.

 

The 2 GW MachairWind, whose wind turbines will be installed on fixed-bottom foundations, is planned to be built off the coast of Islay.  Not sure the hard crystalline rock seabed will work for fixed bottom foundations.  I'd be minded to look at some of the floating options with 

 

Hunterston and or Dalmally for Grid; We shall see.
