Three Wisconsin utilities are buying four new solar, wind, and storage projects totaling 450 MW. (WPR)
The PSC approved the acquisitions of the Saratoga and Ursa solar sites and the Badger Hollow and Whitetail wind farms, a portfolio expected to power 150K+ homes when fully online in 2027–2028.
We Energies will take an 80% stake in each project, with Wisconsin Public Service and Madison Gas & Electric holding 10% each—part of a strategy to shift capital into new resources while retiring inefficient fossil plants.
The combined investment is nearly $1.5B, but the utilities say federal tax credits and avoided fuel costs will offset the upfront price once the new capacity begins operating.
