NEWS: The Trump Administration’s Attack on Offshore Wind Threatens To Raise Electricity Prices for Millions of Americans

The Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to freeze offshore wind construction could end up costing ratepayers billions. (CAP)

  • If five federally targeted offshore wind projects (5.8 GW total) are ultimately canceled, the average ratepayer across 15 Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states could pay ~$100 more a year for the next decade, to the tune of $45B total.

  • Why? The grid would have to rely more heavily on natural gas which, unlike wind, is subject to market volatility.
