NEWS: Texas sees new solar plant from T1 Energy worth millions

T1 Energy broke ground on a massive Texas factory, aiming to bring the entire solar supply chain to American soil. (Axios)

  • The Austin-based manufacturer started construction on a $425M plant in Rockdale that’ll produce 2.1 GW of solar cells annually—a volume larger than the entire current US capacity for silicon-based cells.

  • It’s a vertically integrated play designed to feed the data center boom. By sourcing raw wafers from Michigan and turning them into cells in Texas, T1 is betting that “made in America” hardware will be the preferred choice for tech giants rushing to build out power infrastructure.
