Post-Trump feud, Ørsted's 704 MW Revolution Wind farm has begun feeding power to New England’s grid. (WPRI)
The backstory: In December, the Trump admin suspended leases for Revolution Wind and four other East Coast offshore wind farms over national security risks … but didn’t offer any specifics. After lawsuits launched by states and developers, federal judges gave each project the green light to resume construction.
Ørsted's 65-turbine project is now 93% complete. It’s on track for full operation later this year, when it will power 350K+ homes and businesses in Connecticut in Rhode Island. The farm’s output will peak during winter months, when New England energy prices tend to spike.
