The stats: The US doubled its solar cell manufacturing capacity and added 8.6 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity in Q1—the third-largest quarter for new solar manufacturing capacity on record—per Wood Mackenzie and the Solar Energy Industries Association.
The story: In Maryland, a residential solar pilot program has booked more than $3 million in loans since November, even amidst a residential solar market downturn and tax credit question marks. It aimed to book 40–50 loans during its first year…and it closed May with 83, per Utility Dive.
