NEWS: Britain responds to Iran war energy shock by requiring solar panels and heat pumps in all new homes

Propelled by Iran war energy disruptions, the UK will require England’s new homes to have heat pumps and solar panels. (CNBC)

  • The Future Homes Standard, which takes effect in 2028, calls for on-site renewable generation and low-carbon heating in every new build. The UK government is also clearing the way for plug-in solar panels to be sold in shops within months…a far speedier timeline than the current US push.

  • Analysts expect the Iran conflict to accelerate the fossil fuel exit across Europe, which is experiencing more severe disruptions than the US. Slovenia, for instance, is already rationing fuel.
