The groundbreaking offshore wind farm project will be the nation’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm, a revolutionary project that will take place 15 miles off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
The power produced by wind turbines will be transferred to the close-by substation that is approximately 5.2 miles away from the shore using 220kV underground transmission cables with a double circuit of XLPE cable.
This will be a huge step towards reducing carbon emissions and will lead to a cleaner energy future. The plan is to produce 800 megawatts of affordable electricity for more than 400,000 homes and businesses starting in 2023.
