Data Centers and Solar Energy

A conflict that has been posed, but not yet recognised, here in Brazil, is the "disparity" between the firm demand (data centers is an excellent example) and the non-firm supply of solar energy, which is systematically gaining share in the country's power matrix.

Solar energy, by its very nature, depends on sunlight. Data centers operate 24/7 at full capacity.

Solar energy and data centers are the two major protagonists of our times and the future as well. The demand for data centers is "firm" and the supply of solar energy is "non-firm."

The technical solution is to require solar projects to incorporate energy storage. This enables energy delivery with a profile more suited to "meeting demand". Meanwhile, it is the "others" (all of us) who pay for this "mismatch."
