AES Corp reigns as top supplier to Microsoft, locking in 950 MW of renewable energy PPA

Since late 2021, AES Corp has dominated as Microsoft's primary energy supplier, locking in impressive corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) totaling 950 MW. This capacity constitutes a significant 17% of AES's total power contracts during this time and a whopping 50% of AES’s energy contracts with the technology companies. While primarily focused in the US, their recent moves into the Latin American region signal an ambitious expansion of their collaboration. 

The ongoing partnership between AES and Microsoft was once again demonstrated with their recent 154 MW wind PPA in Brazil. This 15-year commitment sees AES providing capacity from the 1.4 GW Cajuina Wind Complex in Rio Grande do Norte. The new contract adds to ~180 MW of PPAs already signed for the project with local firms such as BRF Global, Ferbasa and Minasligas
