54MW OF COMMUNITY SOLAR COMING TO NY & VA

54MW of new community solar is coming to NY & VA. The 54MW consists of 8-community solar projects being developed by Solar Site Developers, Needham Heights, MA.

It is estimated the electricity generated will provide power over 7,000 homes.

According to Managing Member, Dennis Satnick, both NY and VA have recently enacted legislation to promote the development of community solar projects as a way to both lower the cost of electricity to subscribers of community solar projects and to help each state fulfill mandated renewable energy goals.

New York is mandated  to generate 70% of all electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and 100% by 2040, while Virginia has set goals of 30% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% of electric production from renewable energy by 2050.
