NEWS: New York to Build One of First U.S. Nuclear-Power Plants in Generation

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has ordered the New York Power Authority to build at least 1 GW of new nuclear capacity, marking the first major US nuclear project launch in over 15 years. (WSJ)

  • The project will lean on President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders to accelerate siting and permitting—an early test of whether DC’s fast-track rhetoric can translate into real project timelines. 

  • NYPA is exploring both traditional reactors and SMRs, with Nine Mile Point a potential host site.
