'New nuclear' is a mid-2030s reality for the data center industry, says Macquarie

Despite the excitement around new nuclear technologies and their ability to generate clean power for data centers, the "real impact" won't be seen until the mid-2030s, Macquarie Group analyst Charles Yonts tells Cool Vector.

"It's great - I'm very excited about all these prospects," says Yonts. "However, our demand visibility out into the mid 2030s is sketchy, at best." Yonts adds the earliest any reactors can come online is 2029, and those assets will be "initially very expensive." Extending the life of old nuclear plants is a more impactful development in the near term, he says.

Yonts and Macquarie colleague Paul Golding share their insights in the Cool Vector episode, "How Crypto Brought Innovation to the Data Center Industry." Watch it on the Cool Vector YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/_T5lw__6dIo
