Bio

I work as an independent consultant, having retired from ConocoPhillips in 2008 after 30 years of service. From 2008-2014, I was a clean fuels consultant for Sinopec, the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, advising them on the S Zorb™ sulfur removal gasoline technology, including new unit startups, performance testing, troubleshooting, modeling, technical lectures, and operator training. I also gave lectures at R&D centers around China on clean energy topics, which I later formulated into a book published by Oxford University Press entitled “The Changing Energy Mix.” The book compares renewable and nonrenewable energy types used in transportation and electricity generation. I grew up in St. Louis and attended the University of Arkansas, earning a B.S. degree in Chemistry. Following this, I attended Rice University on a Welch Foundation Fellowship and received an M.A. in Physical Chemistry in 1978 and a PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1979. I am also a registered professional engineer, receiving certification for Chemical Engineering in 1993.
