Randy Austin

I have been a Metering Vendor in the Electric Utility industry for over 40 years. My experience runs from selling metering adapters to AMI systems and everything in between. Vision Metering is my second venture and started in 1991 in a bedroom of my house. My previous company, Aptech was started in 1986 and i sold my interest in 1991 to start Austin International which became Vision Metering in 2011. I repurchased Aptech in 1999 and incorporated it into Austin International. At Vision Metering, I manage the engineering department with 18 engineers in three countries, and am extremely involved in the sales organization. We have a staff of over 70 people and occupy a 240,000 square foot facility. We sell into 19 countries and business is very robust. We entered the AMI space in 2013 with our modem meters and Hawkeye system that helps developing countries minimize theft of energy. Our AMI systems are equal to or better than our competitors, lower cost and easier to manage with a minimal infrastructure.
