I have been disecting machinery forever. I am deeply interested in weaknesses in design. The hydro power industry caught my attention shortly after I got out of college. Later I found the efficiencys claimed of + 90 % were a load of rubbish. They purposly leave out accelerated mass in these formulas because they consider this energy unattainable. And they are correct ...with a turbine. But if you use elevated water as a compression element of air, very high actual efficiencies can be attained. And the mass moves from upper elevations at a very low rate of speed, so the vast majority of the energy can be gathered and stored in the form of compressed air.
