Phil Carson, former editor-in-chief, Intelligent Utility Daily, covers the smart grid for Energy Central. In his daily coverage he examines the people, technology, business cases and public policy that affect this vital upgrading of the nation’s electric grid.
Prior to joining Energy Central, Carson covered wireless technology, drinking water science and public affairs for a variety of newspapers, magazines and trade publications. He is the author of books on popular music, Spanish colonial history and mountaineering.
Carson earned his undergraduate degree in biology and geology from the University of Denver and his master’s in science writing from Northwestern University. He has worked as a journalist since 1982.
