Tammy McLeod is a seasoned executive and board leader with over 25 years of experience driving growth and transformation across public and private companies in the energy sector. As a CEO and board director, she has overseen $1 billion budgets and led teams exceeding 1,000 employees. Her expertise spans strategy, regulation, customer-centric transformations, and sustainability, delivering measurable business impacts in rapidly evolving industries.
McLeod serves on the boards of multiple innovative organizations, including battery storage, data analytics, and biomass companies, where she has driven strategic growth and advised on private equity acquisitions. As Chair of the Risk, Compensation, and Sustainability Committee at Viridi Parente, she worked to develop a comprehensive enterprise risk management framework. At Pinnacle West Capital Corporation (NYSE: PNW), she regularly presented to the board of directors of this $3.5 billion utility holding company. Her governance acumen extends to non-profit leadership, managing the Flinn Foundation board, with a $275 million endowment, and serving on the boards of the Translational Genomic Research Institute and the $1 billion Arizona Community Foundation.
During her tenure at Arizona Public Service, McLeod initiated transformative projects, including implementing advanced metering technologies that reduced annual operating costs by $15 million, leading the construction of nine grid-scale solar plants, and pioneering the company’s entrance into the CAISO Energy Imbalance Market, saving customers $12 million annually. Her efforts elevated the company’s customer satisfaction rankings from bottom-tier to top quartile among investor-owned utilities.
Currently the CEO of the Flinn Foundation, McLeod spearheads initiatives to strengthen Arizona’s bioscience ecosystem. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic included launching statewide testing initiatives and public health campaigns. Her work earned her recognition as Public Policy Leader of the Year three times by the Arizona Capitol Times.
McLeod holds a Ph.D. in Sustainability from Prescott College, an MBA from The Wharton School, and a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Colorado. A certified economic developer, she also completed the Corporate Director Development Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
