Danish Saleem serves as DER Cybersecurity Standards Lead in the Energy Security and Resilience (ESR) center of National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL). He works with the public and private sector to identify security requirements at the device and system level, develop, test and validate cybersecurity standards and evaluate cybersecurity controls and determine residual risk in smart networks in the electric sector. He provides technical support in the various cybersecurity R&D projects that are ongoing in the center and also helps clients in implementing innovative power systems projects, with secure grid architecture and best cybersecurity practices, featuring newly developed technologies based on the latest research findings
He has been leading approx. $4M of projects funded by different offices of department of energy and also led ‘DER and servers security’ subgroup within Sunspec/Sandia cybersecurity working group. He holds a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University (FIU) and was the recipient of ‘Worlds Ahead Graduate’ award in 2017 from FIU.
