I am a retired astronomer and professor (Ph.D. from Columbia University; Smith College). I began teaching an undergraduate course on the Science and Policy of Climate Change in 1995. I took early retirement in 2002 to pursue a growing passion around climate change and sustainability. After serving on non-profit boards and civic committees concerned with these issues, I served two 4-year terms on the Durango, CO, City Council, including two 1-year terms as Mayor. After leaving the Council in 2019, I completed a Climate Change Professional (CC-P) certificate with the Association of Climate Change Professionals (ACCO, climateofficers.org). Since then, I have been consulting with ACCO on a study guide to complement the CC-P curriculum. Beginning in mid-2023, trainings incorporate the study guide, with publication expected in 2024.
