J R Tolbert

J.R. serves as a Managing Director at Advanced Energy United, a fast growing national association of businesses working toward a prosperous future based on secure, clean, affordable energy. In this role, J.R. leads a team of professionals working to advance and defend clean energy programs in states across the country, educating candidates for public office on the benefits of advanced energy, and is helping to build an organizing force for the advanced energy workforce. He also oversees member engagement, campaign strategy development, and works to ensure ample funding for Advanced Energy United's state-based advocacy work.

Prior to joining Advanced Energy United, Tolbert was the Executive Director of the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators, a bipartisan network of more than 1,400 state lawmakers dedicated to progress on energy and environmental issues. Other experiences include state-based advocacy on a variety of energy issues. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Auburn University.
