Stuart Borlase is a Principal Consultant with ESTA International consulting. He has over 25 years of experience in the modernization and business transformation of utility, energy and industrial markets. His experience includes smart grid, grid real-time monitoring and control, substation and distribution automation, protective relaying systems, microgrid control systems, distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS), IEC 61850, digital substations, NERC compliance, IT/OT integration, and device and asset management. He previously worked for Schneider Electric, Siemens, Wipro Technologies, and General Electric. Mr. Borlase received his Master of Engineering and Doctor of Engineering degrees in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a registered Professional Engineer, and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He has published and presented numerous papers on smart grid and grid modernization.
