What does "data center flexibility" even mean?

How can a very large data center become a flexible resource on the electric grid? On the Grid Forward Forum podcast, Bryce Yonker spoke to two experts at the forefront of this concept: Chris Pennington, Director of Energy & Sustainability for Iron Mountain Data Centers, and Brian Janous, Co-Founder of Coverleaf Infrastructure.

The question as Chris sees it: "โ€œOkay, how do we help the load be part of the equation, not just rely on utilities to solve all of our problems for us?โ€

It's not about workloads, according to Bryan: "The last thing you want to do is build a $30 billion data center, and then use it as a demand response machine."
