NEWS: Schneider Electric Signs Long-Term Carbon Removal Agreement with Climeworks

Schneider Electric signed its first high-durability carbon removal deal with Climeworks, agreeing to remove 31K tons of CO₂ by 2039 and jointly work to lower Direct Air Capture costs. (ESG Today)

  • The offtake covers three long-term storage methods: DAC with storage, bioenergy with CCS, and enhanced rock weathering. The deal complements Schneider’s existing nature-based removals as it targets net zero by 2050.

  • Climeworks, which operates the world’s first two DAC plants, says early demand is critical to scale technologies that store CO₂ for thousands of years.
