Zinc-air batteries could finally give the US the long-duration storage it needs. (CleanTechnica)
Toronto-based startup e-Zinc has raised $50M+ to scale manufacturing, backed by Toyota, Mitsubishi, and others. Its modular design forms zinc pellets during charging and dissolves them during discharge.
The DOE calls zinc-air a “high-potential” pathway for LDS—and with AI, renewables, and grid stress rising, investors are betting it could fill a critical gap that lithium-ion can’t cover.
