Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced Fairwater, the world’s most powerful AI data center, now under development in Wisconsin. (X)
Nadella says the facility will run on renewables and use liquid cooling that requires no ongoing water consumption.
For context: Fairwater includes hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200s, connected by fiber long enough to wrap the Earth 4.5 times, delivering 10X the performance of today’s fastest supercomputer.
Between the lines: Microsoft added over 2 GW of new capacity last year, and identical Fairwater clusters are planned at other sites.
