Today in creative generation: The food waste from the 3M Open PGA Tour event in Minnesota last week is being turned into electricity. (Minnesota Star Tribune)
How? All of the food trash (an expected 10 tons) will be shuttled to a Viresco plant Turtle Lake, WI, today. There, Viresco will 1) convert the food scraps into methane biogas and 2) sell that electricity to Xcel Energy.
