High-Point Observers

Summary: When I start a new post, I need to decide what folder to put it in. This paper came down to two choices “Facilities and Industry Types” or “Utility Technologies” I did not need to think much before selecting the latter. It wasn’t because I consider this paper’s primary subject, “Fire Fighting” a utility, it is because, in my home state (California, which this is about), Fire-Fighting is definitely a technology that is really, really important to electric utilities. This is mainly because these utilities have tens of thousands of miles of T&D lines running throughout our wildlands. Although, electric utilities in California are either burying these are replacing them with microgrids (see earlier post summarized and linked in this paper) as quickly as they can, it will take many years to decades to replace them all, and until they do, they are one limb-fall away from a major conflagration.
