Creating a Voluntary Cybersecurity Labeling Program for Smart Products - Some Progress to Report

There is some progress to report on the FCC US Trust Mark Labeling initiative. Click Read More Below and download the full report for details.

"The FCC Label would include the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark and a QR Code linking to a product registry. The registry would display consumer-friendly information about the security of products bearing the Cyber Trust Mark."

An example of this QR Code linking concept to a "trusted product" can be see here (click the QR code at this link for a conceptual example of what this could look like)

Apple recently announced a similar capability to verify notarized Apple iOS products

A Trust Registry listing the set of digital products that have been subjected to a rigorous and comprehensive risk assessment following NIST Standards and Guidelines can provide the public with a trusted source to look for "trusted" digital products before buying or installing a product in a smart device, a persons home, a business or a digital ecosystem used to operate critical infrastructure operations.

Never trust software, always verify and report!โ„ข
