Celebrating Esri’s 2025 SAG Award Winners

Energy Central joins Esri in congratulating this year’s Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award winners, recognized by Esri for their innovative use of GIS to improve operations, resilience, and decision-making across the energy sector.

This year’s honorees in the utility space include BC Hydro, Eswatini Electric Company, HanseGas GmbH, HK Electric, ITAIPU Binacional, Nova Scotia Power, PT PLN (Persero), TenneT TSO B.V., Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Transelec, and Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc., along with other standout organizations being recognized for their leadership and progress in applying GIS technology to real-world utility challenges.

From modernizing utility networks and streamlining field operations to strengthening outage response, asset visibility, and grid planning, these award winners are showing how geospatial intelligence can drive measurable value across the energy landscape.

A few highlights stand out in particular.

  • Dirección Provincial de Energía de Corrientes is advancing a suite of GIS-based applications to improve visibility into electrical line status, customer complaints, asset tracking, and feasibility requests.

  • HanseGas GmbH is migrating from sisNET to Esri’s ArcGIS platform and building a digital twin of its gas network.

  • Nova Scotia Power demonstrated resilience and adaptability by shifting critical operations to ArcGIS Online after a cyber incident disrupted its ongoing migration work.

  • PT PLN (Persero) is also being recognized for its consulting and Utility Network implementation efforts.

Congratulations to all of this year’s SAG Award winners for advancing the future of utility operations through GIS innovation.
