White Paper: Systematic Site Selection for Substations

Access Publication

The growing demand for energy across the United States necessitates expanding and modernizing every part of the electric grid, including electric substations.

The process for identifying suitable sites for new substations, however, must consider competing factors in both urban and rural settings. Developing a scalable, repeatable process to identify substation sites and assess suitability means evaluating feasibility by outlining the requirements and applying consistent criteria for a new facility.

This white paper will help multi-disciplinary teams develop defendable criteria, document risks, and implement a systematic substation site selection process.
