Seeking Out Rockstar Linemen or Stories about Linemen for Energy Central's Celebration of National Lineman Appreciation Day

April 18 is officially recognized at National Lineman Appreciation Day. This is a holiday that is very near and dear to Energy Central, as those of us who work every day within the utility sector know just how critical these workers are to keeping the machine humming. Still, they are often overlooked by the public for the essential frontline service they provide. So we always take pride in using this day to celebrate the linemen across the utility sector and within the organizations represented on Energy Central.

In anticipation of this important day, we're putting out a call for participation through the following outlets:

  • Interview: The week of Lineman Appreciation Day, we want to publish a handful of articles featuring interviews with RockStar linemen about their work and how they see the industry growing and changing.
  • Personal Video: As a fun additional step, we're also looking for linemen to record a 20 second to 1-minute video of themselves out in the field, somewhere in their daily work, to quickly note what they love about their job, what the energy industry means to them, and what they want to say to their fellow linemen and broader utility workers during this day.
  • Post from Linemen: We want to feature some written pieces from linemen themselves in the community. Most of the content on Energy Central we get comes from people more in the office, in the board room—but we want to hear directly from those with boots in the ground (or in the sky, rather!) via short blog posts on topics that are on their mind. Nothing extensive—something 250-500 words would suffice.
  • Share a Post: Invite our fellow community members - those from the office and board rooms - to share stories about your linemen. Nothing extensive—something 250-500 words would suffice.

If you have a lineman in your organization who you think deserves this special moment of recognition or who would be interested in participating in the personal video or writing a post, get in contact with us so we can arrange the details. Please email me at [email protected] with the subject line: National Lineman Appreciation Day.

If you would like to share your own post - please feel free to post by following this link or send the post to [email protected] with the subject line: National Lineman Appreciation Day. Please do not schedule for your post to go live until the week of the 18th.

I am looking forward to telling the story of your linemen!
