Today, April 18th, is recognized as National Lineman Appreciation Day. This day was first designated by Congress in 2013 as a time to "express our utmost appreciation to the great men and women that work so hard for us every day. It's our honor to celebrate the hard work, innovation, and dedication of Electrical Lineworkers."
So on April 18th, across the utility sector and beyond, we stop to Thank a Lineman.
But those of us in the industry know that just one day isn't enough, and instead we want to turn this into a full week of celebration. In recognition, we've collected five of the best, most educational, empowering, and gratitude-inspiring videos on the life of a lineman to share with the community, which we'll be posting one per day throughout the week to recognize all the men and women who work hard to build and maintain the lines that deliver the power we generate.
Celebrate National Lineman Week Energy Central Style
Each day, we will publish a video that depicts, in some way, “The Life of a Lineman”. We invite you to watch the videos and vote on the one you feel best portrays this theme.
How you can vote on your favorite video:
Vote by liking the video using the “thumbs up” in the lower right or by posting a comment in the comments section of the video’s post.
Locating the videos:
To easily find the videos, you can visit the Energy Central organizational page where they'll be posted, or you can save the link to this post where we'll post a link to each video as it goes live:
- Monday: Your Energy Superheroes
- Tuesday: A Lineman's Call
- Wednesday video: What It Takes to Be a Lineman
- Thursday video: Teach Me, Utility Lineman
- Friday video: Lunch with a Lineman
Would you like to celebrate Lineman week another way? Below are some ideas:
- Compose a post about a Lineman
- Share a link to an article that recognizes a Lineman
- In the comments section of this post, add a little note of “thanks”. You can even do a shout-out to a specific Lineman.
