NEWS: Tariffs to spike power generation costs: reports

New data from WoodMac and Anza Renewables show US energy storage pricing is up more than 50% in 2025, with developers now navigating the world’s most expensive solar market. (Utility Dive)

  • The US is now 54% pricier than Europe for solar construction—and 85% more expensive than China. Four-hour battery system costs spiked 56-69% since January, despite falling lithium prices, thanks to compounded tariffs on imported cells.

  • Depending on where tariffs land, WoodMac warns utility-scale storage projects could see cost hikes of 12-50% through 2030.
