COP31: Balancing climate resilience, geopolitical independence, and energy–water–food access while decarbonizing industry and transport

As climate change intensifies, the world faces a complex challenge: how can countries protect their populations from climate risks while securing their access to energy, water, and food, and preserving their geopolitical independence? At the same time, the urgency to decarbonize industry and transport demands faster, more ambitious action. COP31 stands at the crossroads of these interconnected challenges. Beyond setting climate targets, it must establish priorities that balance environmental resilience, strategic autonomy, and sustainable development.
