India imported 4.02 million tonnes (MT) of coal during 21โ€“27 June 2026, down 18.0% from the previous week's 4.91 MT. The decline was driven by a sharp fall in steam coal imports, which dropped to 1.97 MT from 3.75 MT a week earlier.

In contrast, coking coal imports surged to 2.05 MT, up nearly 78% from 1.15 MT, indicating stronger procurement by steelmakers despite softer thermal coal demand.
