Various energy storage systems:
1. Battery storage (Li-ion and lead acid)
2. Thermal storage (molten salt- Eutectic mixture of NaNO3 +KNO3)-Normally used in CSP technology. Other chemicals can also be used like (NaCl+KCl) or LiCl+NaCl or LiCl+KCl
3. Hydrogen-Produced through electrolysis and Used in fuel cell for giving continuous energy output or used for transportation
4. Pumped hydro-Excess or green energy is used to store water at elevation and reuse when required to generate electricity.
5. Flywheel-Store energy in kinetic energy form and releases to mechanical load connected via a shaft.
6. Super capacitors-store energy electrostatically and have high charging and discharging cycle
7. Flow batteries- Flow batteries store energy in liquid electrolytes contained in external tanks. They can offer scalability and long cycle life, making them suitable for grid-scale energy storage applications.
8.Mechanical energy storage-This includes systems like gravitational potential energy storage, where heavy objects are lifted to store potential energy and then lowered to release it, or kinetic energy storage using rotating masses.
