Practically if we see the practices of earthing of transformer neutral at various industries, organizations & individual engineer's decision then it is observed that it is hard & fast. Some where earthing strips are overlapping each other without putting any support/DMC insulator. Some where insulated cables are used for neutral earthing. Somewhere both grid & neutral earthing are common. CEIG guideline ask to keep neutral earthing separate from grid earthing. Also once work completed & earth strips are burred in ground, maintenance team never come to or try to know what is done in reality by project team. Normally two earthing pits are put in parallel for transformer neutral earthing. Lets discuss on practices by various WEG OEM, who even don't know where is there neutral is going & earthed. Envision keeps WTG earthing & USS grid earthing isolated as per drawing but single core 3 cables of 500 sqmm size laid for neutral & earthed inside tower with WTG grid earthing. Same happening in GE & SGRE. While if asked by customer to an EPC engineer in charge, then he says yes sir transformer neutral earthing is totally separate from common grid earthing. Customer having limited idea, become happy & agreed. In Inox machine, both USS & WTG earthing is not kept isolated & shorted. Even transformer neutral earthing visibly seen separated but practically not because here also 3 nos single core 300 sqmm cables connect the trafo neutral with grid earthing. So overall we can say there is no rigid rules & system is surviving at his own risks & responsibility. Dear electrical engineers, experts, wind professionals what do you think on it? Pls. vote & comment. Commenting is also necessary.
