The Data Center Load Reality: Why RTO Tracking is No Longer Optional

My recent discussion at Energy Central focused on a hard reality facing our electrical infrastructure: the massive, unprecedented power demands of next-generation data centers are outpacing localized planning.

We cannot secure or optimize what we do not actively track at the RTO level (PJM, MISO, ERCOT). Resolving the structural strain on America’s utilities requires deep, granular visibility into interconnections, peak loads, and regional telemetry.

It isn’t just an engineering puzzle anymore—it’s a national infrastructure integrity priority. If we want a resilient grid that can handle the AI and computing boom without fracturing local reliability, the baseline telemetry must change.
