Teachings from the rains
The "powerful" rains - which always occur in Brazil - cause destruction and interruption of the electricity supply in entire regions, harming residential, business and institutional consumers.
But... does it have to be like this?
If there were an organized and joint coordination including the regulator (ANEEL), local city halls, state and federal governments, a set of actions would be structured involving tree pruning, removal of trees that represent danger, cleaning the rights-of-way, among others.
These actions are simple and very well known. So why are they not adopted?
The blunt answer is we don't have leaders with the knowledge and competence to make it happen.
The result is typical of underdeveloped countries. We are always incurring in heavy losses, reactively. We should proactively take steps to minimize the effects of the rains.
