Second Wonder Valley Emerges in Utah as Alberta Data Centre Project Stalls

With little progress to report on the $70-billion Wonder Valley artificial intelligence data centre project promised for northern Alberta, celebrity investor Kevin O’Leary has announced he’s developing another AI data centre project in Utah, also named Wonder Valley.

The projects require 7.5 gigawatts of power each, to be deployed in phases. Both are close to methane gas infrastructure, and both involve land purchases of up to 13,000 acres.

O’Leary Digital has hired top-tier banks to help raise the money for the projects, the company said in a news release, adding that the Utah site “benefits from access to major interstate natural gas infrastructure and proximity to aerospace, defence, and advanced manufacturing ecosystems.”

The Utah data centre is announced as a joint venture with West GenCo LLC, a real estate/investment company in Alpine, Utah. West GenCo has no active projects on its website, but lists four “locations under consideration,” including 12,700 acres in North Utah.
