According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts of up to 70 mph were recorded along the southern New England shoreline, while trees and power lines were downed, and weather warnings were issued from North Carolina to Maine. According to data from www.poweroutage.us, at around 8:00 AM this morning, more than 425,000 Maine electricity customers were still without power. Maine's largest retail electricity provider, Central Maine Power Company, anticipates a multi-day restoration effort involving more than 400 line and 200 tree crews.
