NEWS: Plug Power plans hydrogen offering in top US power grid auction

Plug Power plans to offer up to 250 MW of hydrogen electricity in PJM's potential emergency capacity auction. (Bloomberg)

  • The company specializes in hydrogen-powered forklifts, but it's pivoting toward supplying gas and generation systems. Plug says it needs 7+ year-contracts, and it’s already in talks with utilities and hyperscalers.

  • Plenty to prove: Can hydrogen, which has run into major scaling roadblocks, compete on cost and reliability in an auction designed to get MWs online fast?
