NEWS: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic states seek electric transmission ideas

Massachusetts, New York, and seven other states are soliciting proposals for grid projects that link ISO-NE, NYISO, and PJM—aiming to boost reliability and cut costs by 2035. (Boston Globe)

  • The RFI, issued through the Northeast States Collaborative on Interregional Transmission, seeks projects that enhance market efficiency, meet clean energy targets, and support resilience across grid seams. Proposals are due by October 23.

  • While no funding is guaranteed, the states say they’ll evaluate feasibility, benefits, and possible cost-sharing models over the next 12–18 months. It’s a signal that multi-state coordination on transmission is gaining traction.
