NEWS: Nevada PUC approves NV Energy plan to join day-ahead market

NV Energy has picked a side in the West's day-ahead market race. (Utility Dive)

  • Nevada regulators have approved the utility's plan to join CAISO's Extended Day-Ahead Market in fall 2028, which NV Energy picked over SPP’s Markets+. The benefits to EDAM? NV Energy’s 6.6 GW, including 3.7 GW of renewable PPAs (mostly solar), and critical transmission assets linking it to neighboring states.

  • What’s next: EDAM goes live May 1 with PacifiCorp and Portland General Electric. LADWP, Public Service Co. of New Mexico, and several others are scheduled to join next year. Idaho Power is leaning EDAM's way, too.
