A small group of Republicans is threatening to block a bill to fast-track energy and infrastructure permitting. (Politico)
Reps. Andy Harris (R-MD), Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), and other offshore wind opponents say they’ll vote against the procedural rule needed to bring the SPEED Act to the House floor, arguing the bill would make it harder for President Trump to revoke project permits.
House leaders agreed to allow floor votes on amendments targeting offshore wind and permit revocation, but opponents expect those to fail and are instead trying to stop the bill outright.Â
The bottom line: With a narrow GOP majority in the House, the vote—expected later this week—may ultimately come down to attendance and last-minute arm-twisting.
