NEWS: Bill to strengthen Oregon’s electric grid, increase transmission capacity passes Legislature

A new law in Oregon requires utilities to deploy grid-enhancing technologies (GETs) instead of building new transmission lines. (The Oregonian)

  • FYI: Oregon’s transmission system is already at capacity, even as the state expects a 30% load growth over the next 10 years.

  • Utilities must submit plans to the Oregon Public Utility Commission outlining cost-effective technology deployments that aim for implementation by 2030.
